The Ethical Trading Action Group (ETAG) is a Canadian coalition of faith, labour, teacher and non-governmental organizations advocating for government policies, voluntary codes of conduct and ethical purchasing policies that promote humane labour practices based on accepted international labour standards. ETAG promotes greater public access to information on where and under what conditions clothes, shoes and other consumer products are made, and greater transparency in monitoring and verification of company compliance with international labour standards and local laws.

International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX)

IFEX is a network of organisations and individuals which fight for the freedom of expression and was formed in 1992. The Clearing House helps coordinate the work of IFEX members, reducing overlap among their activities and making them more effective in their shared objectives. Their work includes Action Alert Network which reports on freedom of expression abuses and then circulates this information.

MSN is a Canadian-based labour rights and solidarity organization committed to decent work and wages for garment workers worldwide. MSN’s program combines research, policy advocacy, corporate campaigning and engagement, coalition building, international networking and solidarity. MSN acts as the Canadian contact point for corporate campaigns and CSR engagement, monitoring the labour practices of Canadian, US and European retailers, brand merchandisers and apparel manufacturers, engaging with companies whenever possible and mobilizing public pressure for improved policies and practices when necessary. The Maquila Solidarity Network (MSN) acts as the secretariat for ETAG (Ethical Trading Action Group).

Partnership Africa Canada

Partnership Africa Canada (PAC) works in partnership with organizations in Africa, Canada and internationally to build sustainable human development in Africa. Partnership Africa Canada works to :

  • strengthen African and Canadian efforts in research and policy dialogue relating to sustainable human development in Africa
  • facilitate, among African, Canadian and international decision-makers, the adoption and implementation of policies that foster sustainable human development in Africa
  • promote greater understanding of and commitment to sustainable human development in Africa

Partnership Africa Canada was created in 1986 with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Canadian and African non-governmental organizations (NGOs). PAC funded hundreds of innovative projects that supported sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. In 1996, PAC changed its mandate to focus on policy work.
